Between end 2015 and beginning 2016, three new organizations have joined the Dgroups Foundation: IDS and UNISDR as Full Dgroups Partners; Savana Signature as Associate Partner.
The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a well established actor in the development sector, being a “leading global institution for development research, teaching and learning, and impact and communications.” Based at the University of Sussex, IDS brings to the partnership a solid and extensive experience in information services and communication for development, which are at the core of the Dgroups Foundation.
The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), has the mandate “to serve as the focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of disaster reduction and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations system and regional organizations and activities in socio-economic and humanitarian fields.” Based in Geneva, Switzerland, UNISDR has joined Dgroups early in 2016 to enable the set up and facilitation of their online communities and group. Additionally, UNISDR is working with WA-Research to connect the Dgroups platform with other online tools (e.g. email campaign and CRM) into an integrated system.
Last but not least, Savana Signature is the newest Dgroups member. Based in Ghana, SavSign had been using Dgroups through its longstanding partner IICD. With IICD ceasing its operation in December 2015, SavSign has now joined as Dgroups Associate Partners, ‘adopting’ the Ghana-based groups from IICD legacy.
